Life has many challenges, and seeing an experienced psychotherapist is immeasurably helpful to facilitate your own strength and overall health as you navigate them. I am dedicated to providing you with cutting edge, research backed therapy that is designed especially for your appropriate concerns. Most of us did not grow up in homes where we learned how to set healthy boundaries or how to love and be loved in a satisfying, comfortable way. Family of origin issues can color your present life, determining if you live a life of vitality and real connection, or one of quiet desperation. This is particularly important if as a child you suffered from trauma or loss, which can seem minor from an adult perspective, but can have a profound influence on how you experience yourself and your life.
It is possible to effectively shift the way you think and experience yourself in the world around you. Each of us have variables that make us operate at a "default setting". Your "default setting" may keep you functioning lower than your ideal. No matter how your pattern of vulnerabilities manifests in your present life, you are not stuck at your unhappy or unsatisfying default setting.
The same recurring problems don't have to continue to take up your time and bog you down. It really is possible to feel vitally connected to the life you want in a meaningful way; life was meant to be lived with energy and a sense of connection to ourselves, our work and those around us. Anything less is not real health.
Much advancement has been made in the field of psychotherapy that allows you to benefit from therapy more effectively. Depending on your area of concern, therapy may require as few as six sessions or six months. In more deeply rooted problems that have become chronic, people often work for years. Treatment does not necessarily involve a long term, costly commitment.
You deserve to have the best life you can!

About Me
I have been a provider for Mental Health, and Life Management issues for the past twenty-three years. First as a Registered Nurse is hospital programs providing education, support and treatment to individuals, groups and families. I then developed a Health Promotion Program, leading classes in Nutrition, Time Management, Human Potential, Mindfulness Stress Reduction, and Exercise at a Stress Disorders Research Hospital in Chicago. I have led psychotherapy groups for Eating, Mood and Anxiety Disorders, and Relationships, as well as doing Family Therapy.
After graduate school at the University of California, Berkeley, I became the Clinical Director of Employee Assistant Services at Wells Fargo Bank, overseeing 23,000 employees and their dependants. I have worked successfully with the difficult work situations and professional concerns inherent in Corporate America, including the human side of mergers and acquisitions, proactively dealing with the inherent losses and changes that inevitably occur. In these roles I have strived to decrease the stigma of mental health issues and increase the awareness and appropriate treatment of Mood and Anxiety disorders in the workplace.
I started my private practice in San Francisco in 1992, and over the years have given presentations on such topics as Relaxation Training, Guided Imagery, and Conflict Resolution, Coping with Holiday Stress, Assertiveness and Eating Disorders. I relocated to San Diego in 2001 and have continued successfully treating Mood and Anxiety Spectrum Disorders, Parenting and Family issues, and interpersonal growth both with couples and individuals. I presently offer a variety of Psychotherapy Groups, some open ended; some closed, typically 6 to 12 weeks, in length.

“All our resolves and decisions are made in a mood or frame of mind which is certain to change.” Proust. Recent research shows that once income climbs above poverty level, more money brings very little extra happiness; happiness is highly correlated with close friendships with people who care about you.
